The Lethlakeng Underground Coal Gasification Project has significant coal resource portions over 200m in depth from the surface.

Underground Coal Gasification Project
The project is located in an area formerly drilled by Shell Coal during the 1970s, hence the stratigraphy and coal occurrences within the area have been determined from some 30 historical boreholes spaced some 7-10 km apart.
The Lethlakeng Underground Coal Gasification Project has a licence covering 1000km2 and an exploration target of approximately 500 million tonnes of coal over 10% of the area. Shumba Energy aims to fast-track the development of this project with the assistance of a committed strategic partner.
